About this Course

Join NVRC Artist Residence Allison and somatic therapist Zoe Ho for an intimate somatic art experience. Somatic Movement is a non-invasive, exploratory process that grows our connection to embodiment and awareness . Allison will share her poetry practice and we will experiment with writing, movement, drawing and conversation as part of this experiential exploration of relationship between the physical, emotional and imaginal. No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome. Together we will create a judgement free space for self reflective somatic arts practice, to begin releasing habitual and muscular holding patterns, to expand limiting beliefs. In doing so, we begin to regulate the nervous system, and expand our capacity to tend to challenging life situations, discovering new movement and emotional possibilities. In this practice, we hope to expand our capacity to listen and trust the body, to notice how we might carry lived experiences, stress, joy and pain in our bodies. Feel free to bring a yoga mat, something to sit on and wear what you feel relaxed in.
